The Iraqi prisoner of war colonel Mohammad Reza Jamshi who was captured during the military operation ‘Karbala 5’ which took place in Omol Rasas Island expressed a very strange memory about the Iranian war veterans resistance against the Iraqi Baathist forces. This memory seems to be very interesting:
In one of the strips, an Iranian soldier was captured by us. I observed that an Iraqi warrant officer was beating him with his boot. This Iranian soldier’s mouth was bleeding and his teeth had been broken; in a way that ‘Maher Abdol-Rashid’ who was a very cruel man felt sorry for him. We went towards the warrant officer and Iranian soldier together. The Iranian soldier was continuously saying: "Kill me, but I won’t say that.”
The warrant officer would ask the translator to translate his words, but the soldier would repeat his words and the warrant officer would hit him once again.
Abu Abdollah (Maher Rashid) and I arrived there and we asked the Iraqi warrant officer whey he was hitting the soldier?
The warrant officer said: "This soldier is Armenian and non-Muslim. I’m torturing him for more than an hour to insult against Imam Khomeini, but he does not do it and he continues his resistance. He says, you kill me, but I won’t say that.”
Maher Abdol Rashid asked the translator to ask him to express an insult and then get relaxed and why he is resisting in this field? The translator interpreted what he said. The Armenian soldier looked at me and Maher and he said: "Do you say insulting things to God?”
At this time I asked God to forgive me and Maher cachinnated and he said: "Do you consider your Imam Khomeini as your God?”
The Armenian soldier in response to this question said: "No, he is the real man of God. He implements the demands of God. He relies on God and he is not afraid of anyone expect God and the most important thing which can be mentioned about this issue is he resorts God and I can not insulting things against a person who has resorted God, even If I die, I don’t satisfy to express bad words about the leader of my country who is indeed a divine leader.”
Maher Abdol Rashid asked that warrant officer to give up hitting that soldier and he asked an Iraqi soldier to take him to the prisoners of war.
As the color of Maher’s face had turned yellow and he was blinking continuously he whispered, I hope God will forgive us. See that how this man (Imam Khomeini) has been loved by his country in a way that even, a Christian defends him. Saddam does not know that he is fighting with a great man.”
At the same time I remembered the sentence of the chief of the faithful Ali (AS) who said: "Struggle for the Right Person”.
