Loss of father or mother as an external factor has been accounted as one of the most important factors in keeping children backward and it has been regarded as the cause of emotional and behavioral disorders as well as committing crime. Although stress in a normal rage is something usual but lack of stress and its extreme amount will cause many problems. Therefore the present research is intended to investigate the degree of stress among shahed and non _ shahed students. The methodology of the research is post _ occurrence (causative _ comparative) and the research community includes all the shahed students studying at grade three and two in shahed schools Birjand in 1996 _ 1997. The samples chosen from among the community is composed of 180 persons including 90 shahed students (58 male students and 32 female students) and 90 non _ shahed students (58 male students and 32 female students). The means of gathering information was Katal’s Stress Scale Test.
The results indicate that:
1.There is no meaningful between the degree of stress between shahed and non _ shahed students.
2.There is no meaningful difference between the degree of stress between students at second grade and those who are at grade three.
3.Between the literacy level of parents and degree of stress is there no meaningful difference.
4.Between the economical condition of parents and degree of stress is there no meaningful difference.
5.Between the remarriage of mothers and the age of the students at the time of marriage and degree of stress is there no meaningful difference.
