Martyrdom
The word spirituality in Iran has always been along with exile, persecution, prison, torture and finally martyrdom and blood. Shea Roohanis (clergy man) because of their responsibilities and positions have been protecting the divine nobilities and inherited prophets\' missions all the time. It has been said, that Roohanis (spiritualists) are the inhabitants of prophets. They are the Inheritors of Abraham\'s resistance, Noah\'s patience, Musa\'s clamor, Jesus meekness and Mohammad\'s disposition.
These are the specialties that have made Roohanis (spiritualists) be the first people to object Istikbar. So Roohanis predestination is not so different from the prophets. Ghafari\'s martyrdom anniversary was glorious spirituality. A martyr whose name was Hossein and just like Imam Hossein\'s possessors dedicated himself and was so happy about it and in the highest point of disposition and suffocation just like Abuzar assaulted the dissimulation and violence of Pahlavi\'s regime because he, just like Abuzar was called ”Ghafari".
When the intellectual communists interpreted the American royal idea "white revolution" as a modern movement against feudal and western intellectual as if liberals defined it as a step towards Freedom and democracy, Ghafari  stood up to support Imam Khomeini in the battle with Zionism plans and Imperialist programs and resigned himself to prison and torture.
As strong as a hard mountain, he stood up against American cruel executioner anti social regime.  When his foot was in hot oil and he was bitten cruelly with scourge, just like pontiff" Musa the son of Jafar" he submissively countenanced his God in prison. Now for finding about this great Roohani\'s (spiritualists) precious life, we\'ll have a glimpse at his exemplary life.  
In (Hejira lunar based calendar) in a poor farmer\'s family called "Agha Abass Ghafari" in Azarshahr village in Tibriz a child was born who was later called Hossein. Hossein was 5 - 6 years old when his father died, because of the extreme poverty and a poor living condition he was forced to work in the farm with his family.
During his childhood he was strongly interested in learning, later he wrote about this period
"During my childhood I had a strong appetite for learning, I prepared in the back, the needs in our small village (nowadays known as Azarshahr), and I learned the basics from Haj Sheikh Ali and Mirza Hassan Manteghi.
During my youth I went to Tabriz and opened up a small carpentry shop and at the same time I was studying "Lame explanation" and" principles" and "speeches". Because of the extremely hard condition of the family I went back to the village and worked with my uncle, Haj Sheikh Mohsen Mir Ghafari, and I began learning the religious book of Sheikh Ansari, but my brother forced me to quit studying and work in the farm, so we could earn a living. But Hossein who with all his heart wanted to learn would still find time to study during his work and daily duties.
In the notes about this period of time he wrote " during the entire time because of the lack of money and with my father not being there and with my brother\'s influence, and with heavy duty work, most of the time I was studying in between in the farm and the shop.
In 1986, when 30 years of his life had passed in working hard and studying, he decided to migrate, he moved from Azarshahr to the highest place of insurrection and a great spiritually environment, he rented a chamber there and started educating in religious science. In the opportunity of 3 months summer holidays he returned  home and with insistence of his sister-in-law decided to get married and proposed to the daughter of Haj Mirza Ali Moghadas Tabrizi, one of the knights,  holy men in that territory.
Moghadas Tabrizi was a fighter who in addition to writing books and articles also published a magazine called "Aldine and Alhayat"; the articles constantly reminded the ever increasing danger of colonial culture of the west, especially America and loss of Islamic culture.
Because the mercenary agents of the regime closed down the magazine after only 8 months, he published the book" Islam is in danger" which some of its subjects were a reminder of Imam\'s quotes in "jurisprudent province" and "Jihad of Akbar (the greatest Jihad)". When the regime was insisting on religious and politic separation, Moghadas Tabrizi believed that these two can\'t be separated and should be together.
When Sheikh Hossein Ghafari was proposing, he told his future wife that: my wife should be aware that marrying someone that doesn’t have anything but poverty and doesn’t have any other job except for studying and doesn’t have a personal house and only has a chamber, I just hope we have a good future and we might be able to do something for Islam. In reply she said: if you are pleased, I am pleased and if I feel that you need to study more then I am ready to sacrifice more, and surely our life won\'t be just about having something to eat.
After marriage, they spent a few months in Azarshahr, and then returned to Qom so that he can continue high studies. In Qom he learned "Kafaye" and "out of earnings" from God Blass their soul Feyz Ghomi and the noble Khansari and Ayatollah Najafi.
In this period although he spent most of his time  studying, introspection and thinking, because of his wife\'s illness, he had to do some of the house chores and that was when he lost 3 of his 5 children to poverty, hunger and sickness.
His son explains that situation as:
"My father didn’t have any money to buy us powdered milk, so he put the left over breads in the sun and pounded it so it became flour and stirred it in boiled water and fed the kids with it, it was the kid\'s usual meal of the day"
He obtained the expenses of his life with the little pension he got from the religious school and the money that his brother used to send him. When the school was closed (3 months of summer holiday, Moharam and Safar and Ramadan), Sheikh Hossein Ghafari accompanied by other fellow riders went to a far away village of Azerbaijan and in additional to farming he advertised and publicized religion and lightened up their minds about the oppression they were going through and made all his effort to disgrace the 3 groups of Feudal, The king of territory and Akhond regime justification. Therefore during hi- residence in the village anarchy appeared and people over flew. Haj Hossein Ghafari after his mission returned to Qom again. In 1951 to 1961 he was learning in presence of Ayatollah Boroujerdi, so many times after the class they talked about the politics of the time shared the possible dangers.
Fighting in Tehran
In 1997 after 11 years of resident in Qom he went to Tehran and gave his fighting a new aspect. In 1961 at the time of prime minister "Hassan Ali Mansour" when the "provincial idea" was under consideration, which by this idea they wanted to send their spies and agents to cities and villages to carry out their dirty plans. Ayatollah Sheikh Hossein Ghafari in his own position with regular travels and contacts tried to stop this idea from forming which fortunately he succeeded and the idea was stopped temporarily.( because of terror of Hassan Ali Mansoor).
In 1962 in the highest point of knight Roohanis (spiritualists) fightings in Imam Khomeini\'s leadership, Ayatollah Hossein Ghafari with round the clock struggles and also in his speeches    tried so hard to revealed felonies of the regime.
In Moharam of 1963 when the bloody insurrection of 1st of June was in process of making, Ayatollah Ghafari was constantly fighting against the regime and brightening up the public\'s minds and was very determined to do so. On the 12th of Moharam, when he just got back from a speech session and just when he was taking his clothes off the regime police forces attacked his house and took him to prison as he was.
This arrest was of course followed by capturing other Roohani (spiritualist) fighters in Tehran and other cities, the cruel regime effort in order to prevent people\'s insurrection led to the arrest of more than 18 Roohani fighters. In prison the city holder’s society of Ayatollah Ghafari and other fellow fighters were interrogated and tortured. They tried to find the link between them and Imam and get the confession. During the interrogation they tasted the bitterness of torture many times just because he was talking about Imam with respect.
After a few months when he was released he continued fighting. In 1966 he was arrested by savak\'s executioners and because of lack of evidence against him he was freed.
During these years despite the fact that he was holing Imam\'s share, and he was leaving in extremely hard financial condition, he was never content to take even 1 rial from that money. In 1971 he was arrested an interrogated, during these 3 years 1971-1974, ayatollah Ghafari gave his fighting activities a new form he was seen less often in gatherings and among friends.
In July of 1974 he was arrested in Tehran and at the same time his oldest son was captured in Ardabil this was going to be the last arrest of the old fighter.

A: I don\'t know.

A: I didn’t come here they brought me here.
Q:  what\'s your opinion of kings of kings Aryamehr?

A: this party was made by shah and has nothing to do with the people.

A: I think he\'s the only one who can rescue Iran.
During interrogation they would torture the 60 year old man to the point that he almost died they smashed his teeth and broke his arms. These psycho path bullies were not shy to use any torture methods on him but the only word that they could hear coming out of his mouth was prayers to awards holy Imam, especially Musa the son of Jafar who truly he had similarities to.
Poverty and financial incapability\'s were always in his way and Martyr Ghafari had to show resistance and patience so these kinds of problems wouldn’t prevent him from reaching his main objective. The poverty he was born with, intensified when he was 35 with the death of his brother, because although he was a child he had to work for the land lord to save the family from poverty and help to earn a living on the other side he wanted to reach his big goals so he finished his religion science in presence of a great scholar in his village and then to continue his studies he moved to Tibriz but poverty didn’t leave him alone there either, and he had to work in a carpentry shop but the family\'s  poor condition didn’t let this  go on and he had to return home to help at the farm full time, but he didn’t let this get in the way and in his free time he used his time to the fullest and studied an even reduced his sleeping  hours  for studying.
 When martyr Ghafari was living in Qom he was facing extreme poverty and it was so bad that some of his children died as a result of it. Regardless of all his problems he was carrying the heavy load of fighting Taghoot and not even for a moment he would lose focus of his fight, and he would stand up against Taghoot like an unshakable mountain, once he said Khomeini\'s enemies are infidel.
Another chapter of martyr Ghafari tolerance against torture of regime\'s executioner\'s was that Shah. The bullies would savagely take their act to the level that caused the death of the Roohani (spiritual) fighters. They burnt his feet with boiled oil until all the skin and flesh would melt and his feet would get smaller than their natural shape.
All over his body there were signs of torture. They even put a hole under the great man\'s head and broke most of his teeth. However the great martyr Ayatollah Ghafari tolerated all these unpleasantness on the way to reach his main goal which was destroying Taghoot\'s regime. But the smallest word and brutal action and turning from religion were unbearable for him and he faced it bravely and this tolerance and fight with Islam altercation caused his death. 
His life was truly commentary of this Ayah of Quran that warns all those who have walked in the path of truth, that if you want success over difficulties that enemies have placed in your way to disappoint you just be firm and strong and if you love and believe in your aim then welcome the problems and difficulties whole heartedly and if you want an endless reward from God then be patient in his way.
If a lover is aiming for the truth and purity
He seeks his holy place in the fort and satisfaction
In the way of reaching his goals
He will even leave his family and land behind
He won\'t run away from hardness and difficulties of travels
On his way he will even put up with thistles
Good for that lover that the story of his suffering will bewail everyone\'s spirit.
Islamic revolution deifier
They broke the silence of the night with his scream and talked about light in the darkness, not every one is capable of this. You have to be very brave to shout at the scourge and criticize the court.
But he was just like that, he was an objector. His quotes were just like the sword in the night. In the highest point of suffocation he frightened the Pahlavi\'s regime with his shouts. This voice was coming out of a wounded crusader Muslim\'s throat that was saying "Khomeini\'s enemy is an infidel.
This short sentence shook the roots of Taghoot and this voice belonged to a great man that believed Iran could only be saved by the hands of Imam Khomeini. In July in reply to the investigators he  said: 
 Q: why did they bring you to prison?
A: I don\'t know.

The son of the martyr Ghafari explains his last visit with dad and his martyrdom as
"In the last visit they dragged my father with broken arms and legs to the visiting table, when he didn’t have more than 2 teeth in his mouth and his face and body were bruised, we didn’t exchange more than one or two sentences. My father said
"I don\'t think we are going to see each other again when he dragged the conversation to Musa the son of Jafar, he couldn’t wipe his tears and on the other hand he believed that no one was worthy enough to see his tears except for God, but his hands were broken so he put his head down and wiped his tear with his bruised knees.
Seeing that scene we came out of there angrily the next day we heard that at 2 pm (28 of December 1971, father has been relieved from the last place he took an examination for his devotion and has succeed to unite with his deity.
They didn’t want to give us his corpse and wanted us to sign  documents stating that father has passed away in his house and dragged us to so many different prisons so many times that they got tired themselves. When they gave us the coffin, it was filled with blood and the torture marks were so observable that his tall figure was so extremely bruised that we could hardly recognize him.
