Aashoura Poetry discussed in interview with Alireza Ghazeh

TEHRAN,(SCIB)- The literary and artistic works created on Aashoura event only project a dim view of a deep reality, contemporary poet Alireza Ghazveh tells Shahed reporter.

“Understanding the spiritual beauty of this event calls for discerning eyes that can perceive all of its aspects.”? “Aashoura was not only an enormous campaign and a spiritual movement, but also an aesthetic inspiration for artists.”? “Poets and writers that look at Aashoura from a mystical point of view, perceive it as a source of enlightenment and get inspired by it to create precious artistic work.”? he added. Ghazveh drew attention to a new trend in the language, structure and ideas of Ashoora poetry that has emerged in the past decade. “The trend does not merely deal with the oppression that Imam Hussein and his disciples were subject to; it also focuses on the consequences of this event.”? “So far, the focus was mainly on the eulogistic aspect and the there was rarely any emphasis on other aspects of Aashoura, such as the Propagation of Virtue and the Deterrence of Vice. We should also deal with the latter in Aashoura ceremonies and poetry.”? “Unfortunately, Aashoura poetry has become popularized. Eulogists often produce a very shallow account of events. Aashoura poets need to incorporate contemplation, artistic flare and understanding in their works in order to enlighten today’s generation with the teachings of Aashoura event.”? he concluded.
