Treatment of spinal cord transaction in injured war veterans asks for

TEHRAN, (SCIB) - A national attitude and determination must rise in the treatment of injured veterans and spinal cord transactions.

And that must show in the organization policies, stated the deputy of president and the Chairman of the foundation of martyrdom and war veteran affairs. As reported by Shahed cultural information data base during 'The fourth national spinal cord lesions' which was held in the conference hall of Imam Khomeini hospital, Dr. Hossein Dehqan said: since the sacred defense till now the authorities have been focusing mostly on military and training aspects of war, therefore more efforts should be done to solve human and social complications of war especially in the field of treating injured war veterans with spinal cord lesions. He also indicated:' perhaps the difference of our sacred defense with other wars is the voluntarily presence of warriors in the battlefields; those who were thinking of nothing but martyrdom, however they had a different destiny and some suffered spinal cord injuries. Contrary to the significant developments in the fields of training and management of defense and logistic organizations, one of the problems related to sacred defense period is insufficient attention to the social and human aspects of war particularly the injured war veterans who have survived that time. And that requires the severe effort ofauthorities to treat the injured veterans with spinal cord lesions, added Dr. Dehqan. While mentioning that we are just in the early stages of equipping and utilizing the scientific and research centers for treating the spinal cord injuries, and that there is a long distance between us and the developed countries, he affirmed: we are hoping, through mobilizing all our potentials and facilitating the necessary foundation for interactive cooperation of injured war veterans with those centers, we'll be able to present successful strategies for the treatment and/or general condition improvement of the injured veterans with spinal cord lesions in Iran and all around the world. The chairman of the foundation of martyrdom and war veteran affairs pointed out the effective steps taken by the foundation for the treatment of injured veterans with spinal cord lesions in the recent years and said: equipping the therapeutically centers, outlining the policies and inclusive planning for the concentration of the activities of the country's medical society in achieving the new hopes in treatment of spinal cord injuries are some of the efforts done by the foundation in order to take more effective steps toward defeating such complications. He specified: Through organizing the management of education, treatment, rehabilitation and considering all aspects and dimensions related to patients with spinal cord injuries in the society and preparing the cultural basis for people to understand the difficulties of such patients we can easily predict and design the future strategies to cure those patients. Dr. Emami Razavi the vice president of Tehran medical university announced: the experience of doctor's society being present in the sacred defense along with the warriors shows the self sacrifice and altruism of these honorable members of the society, which the existence of martyred doctors is the witness to such claim. At the end while mentioning the achievement of members of the transplantation centre of Tehran medical university to a new scheme for the treatment of patients with spinal cord injuries, said: This project ended last Esfand (March) and was an effective step toward solving the problem of patients with spinal cord injuries. There is a hope by its continuation we'll come up with appropriate strategies to treat other medical problems of the country.
