Khoramshahr cultural center registered as national heritage

TEHRAN, (SCIB) - The Sacred Defense cultural center of Khoramshahr was registered as a national heritage of sacred defense.

Head of the Khoozestan office of the Organization for Preservation of Buildings and Relics of the Sacred Defense, General Hossein Eshghi, declared the building a national heritage of sacred defense, with the registry Number 113 assigned to it. “The attempt is part of a national scheme to register Sacred defense Heritage, approved by the leader.”? he added. The cultural center of Khoramshar is the fourth national Sacred defense heritage to be registered after the city’s Jame’ mosque and Azadi Bridge as well as Mashad-e-Shahid Chamran in Dehlawyeh. The cultural center of Khoramshahr is one of the most significant centers in the city’s sacred defense history. The premises of the center was built in 1931 by the British Oil Company. The two-story building was used as the central office of the company until the nationalization of Iranian oil Industry. Afterwards, the building served as the central office of National Iranian Oil Company. During the city’s occupation by the Ba’athis the building was used as one of their major strongholds. Devastated in the imposed war, the building was renovated after the war, preserving certain symbols of war in it. The building was used as a cultural center of Sacred defense by the foundation of the preservation of Sacred defense heritage since then. The cultural center displayed stunning and lasting evidence of the 35 days of Khoramshahr’s resistance, the occupation and destruction of the city, the operation to liberate Khoramshahr and return of the locals to their hometown. There are stalls allotted to the relics of martyrs Jahan Ara, Mousavi, Behnam Mohammadi,Behrouz Moradi and Sayyad Shirazi. Among the center’s other attractions are Seyyed-ol-Shohada Husseinieh, The Specialized library of Sacred defense, an outer display area exhibiting the enemy’s destroyed tanks,a watch tower and the tombs of three anonymous martyrs. The welcome sign at the entrance of the center is the lasting work of martyr Behrouz Moradi. The statue “Noon of Aashuorayian”? also welcomes visitors upon entrance. The façade of the center brings into memory the days of heroic defense of one’s homeland. The center welcomes hundreds of visitors every year, the number reaching its peak during the dispatch of Rahin-e- Noor Caravans to Sacred defense heritage sites.
