Martyr Motahari’s thoughts examined in Writer’s pavilion

TEHRAN, (SCIB) - A meeting to discuss the thoughts and ideas of Ayatollah Motahari was held in the writer’s pavilion of Tehran book fair, attended by Dr. Ali Motahari, Dr. Haj Sadegh and several other scholars. Dr. Ali Motahari,Martyr Motaharri’s son., talked about different aspects of Ayatollah Motahari’s character. “He has been very comprehensive in the issues he has addressed in his book. We rarely see any other scholars that are so all-embracing in their works.”? Motahhar’s son stated. “ Some might think that his works address too many issues and are impossible to have been composed by a single person; whereas this only emanated from his mastery over Islamic theology which he had started studying as early as the age of 13.”? he added. “Ayatollah Motahari had mastered Islamic scholarship before starting to deliver lectures. Therefore one doesn’t see many changes in his works over the time. He would only sometimes add new material to his old lectures.”? Dr. Ali Motahari stated other examples to attribute the stability of his father’s scholarly works to his mastery over Islamic theology. Hojatoleslam Sadeghi, the next speaker of the meeting, said that the comprehensiveness of Martyr Motahari’s works is a tribute to his theological insight. “Islam is an all-inclusive religion which leads a person in his life from the moment of birth to death. In Motahari’s opinion, a complete human being is one whose Islamic values have developed to the full. A one-dimensional person can never reach perfection.”? Haj Sadeghi pointed out. “According to Imam Khomeini, many ethnologists didn’t know Islam profoundly, but Ayatollah Motahari was definitely one that had a profound understanding of Islam”? Haj Sadeghi concluded “Motahari understood real Islam and tried to make others understand it that way as well. His works are comprehensive since they cover many Islamic concepts. They will never lose their freshness.”? The session ended by participants’ questions being answered by the speakers.
