For the 30th Anniversary of Sabra and Shatila Massacre:

The Most Barbaric Crime of Human History in 40 Hours

Navideshahed: Sabra and Shatila camps were two camps from the total of 12 Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon were located in the south of the country. These two camps were the camps that from the beginning of Palestine’s occupation (1948) would shelter the Palestinians that most of them belonged to the Al-Jalil Neighborhood located in the northern Occupied Palestine. The two camps had a population of 90.000 residents at the time of the Zionists crime in 1982 and a quarter of them were the poor people from Lebanon.

Zionist military men and the Lebanese Phalange forces from the evening of Saturday, September 16, 1982 surrounded the camps Sabra and Shatila completely and they attacked it and until the morning of Saturday September 18, they committed the most heinous crimes in the camps. During the massacre about three thousand and 297 Palestinians and Lebanese were martyred.

Conspiracy to evacuate troops and killing people

A few days before the massacre of Sabra and Shatila based on the concluded contract between Philip Habib, the former Ambassador of the United States of America and Fath Movement, the multinational forces composed of a few hundred persons from the U.S. Navy along with some of the French and Italian forces in Beirut entered in order to monitor the retreating of SAF forces from the camps. In exchange, Israel was supposed to leave at Lebanon, SAF was committed to its undertaking; but Israel breached its promise and it remained in Lebanon; Also the U.S. Army took out its forces from the land of Lebanon so immediately before the deadline and only two days before the massacre of Sabra and Shatila in order to provide everything ready for the massacred.

The operation apparently aimed at avenging the assassination, ‘Bashir Jamil’ the former President of Lebanon and that the Palestinian refugees had not role in this terror.

Sabra and Shatila camp in death within 40 hours

The massacre went on from September 16th to the 18th 1982 in the Palestinian camps including Sabra and Shatila located in south Beirut. During this attack thousands of women, children and old men and young Palestinian refugees were massacred by the Zionists under the demand of Ariel Sharon, the former War Minister of the Zionist regime and his hired agents including the Phalange-Lebanese forces under the leadership of Samir Geagea and Elie Hobeika.

The renowned British journalist, David Hirst, in his book entitled: "The Gun and the Olive Branch" wrote: "The first unit which included 150 Phalangists passed from Israelis' obstacles and entered the Shatilla camp and in addition to guns they also knifes. The massacre of the Palestinians started by this way and even it was continued during the night by lightening the camp by the Zionist forces. They forcefully entered the houses of people and they opened fire at them when they were sleeping.”?

The dept of the crime of Zionist in the massacre of Sabra and Shatila

There are some dreadful and horrible scenes which can not be explained in the story of massacre of Sabra and Shatila. The killers did not suffice only to the killing of thousands of humans, also they made them in the most awful and humiliated situation before their deaths; most of the corpses left from the killing had cut off body organs.

Hirst regarding this issue writes: “Sometimes they tortured before they killed, gouging out eyes, skinning alive, disemboweling. Women and small girls were raped, sometimes half a dozen times before, breasts severed, they were finished off with axes. Babies were torn limb from limb and their heads smashed against walls. Entering Akka hospital the assailants assassinated the patients in their beds. They decorated other victims with grenades, or tied them to vehicles and dragged them through the streets alive. They cut off hands to get at rings and bracelets."

Ghazi Khorshid, another journalist in his book entitled: "Zionist Terrorism in Occupied Palestine" writing about the crimes in Sabra and Shatila, said: I saw the bodies of 5 women and several children on the streets days after the massacre. Nearby lay the bodies of a woman whose breasts had been cut off. Near the woman there was the head of a little girl who seemed to looking in horror at her murderers. Tony Clifton in his book entitled: "The Sky Mourned", recounting the tragedy at Sabra Shatilla, wrote: "What shocked me most was the burnt body of a man whose white teeth seemed to grinning from the charred blackened face. The Phalangists had poured petroleum on him before torching him man alive.

A nurse working at Akka hospital near Sabra and Shatila said: “The phalanges threw grenades towards four physicians who had a white piece of clothing in their hands and they wanted to stop them from entering the hospital; one of my colleagues shouted and she threw a stone towards them, but the criminals slapped him badly in a way that she got unconscious. After that they took her dress off and they raped her in a group form.

Vajanat Zein Abd Al-Latif says: I sheltered to the Gaza hospital on Friday and they surrounded us until the Saturday morning. Also they separated the Palestinians including the women and children from others and they took them to a sport complex and they put them inside the trenches which had been created by the bombardments and they asked them to lie down on the ground. After that they opened fire at them and at the end they buried the corpses whether they were alive or dead.

The Zionist had the commandership and monitoring over the massacre:

The Israeli Army personnel, including General Amos Yaron, the Commander of these forces in Lebanon were stationed on the rooftop of a seven-story building 200 meters from Shatilla, with a clear view on the scene.

Ariel Sharon that at that time was the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime had directly demanded the Phalangists to commit that crime; also the other units of the regime prevented any movements to the camps.

Despite of announcing the massacre news of General Rafael Itan, the Chief of Joint Staff for Israel, he demanded that the killings to be continued until 8 o’clock in the morning of the next day.

After the entrance of the military forces to the camps, the Zionist tanks and bulldozers also entered the camp and they opened fire at the regions that the military forces had left them and after that they buried them with bulldozers.

Depth of the apathy of the international community against Zionist atrocities

Despite the scale of the massacre of Sabra and Shatila publication and dissemination of images, no significant movement was done by the international community to condemn and take action against this crime of the Zionist regime in a serious form, because the United States of America was the main sponsor of the Genocide and it itself also indirectly played a role in it, in this regards, the United Nations General Assembly in order to maintain the appearance of the work, it issued a feigned resolution and it named it as a mass of killing and genocide.

Although the crimes that were done against Sabra and Shatila disclosed the ugly face and the real nature of the evil Zionists, and it made the world to become more familiar with the brutal regime and its supporters, but despite of this not only it did not stop the aggression and violations of the Zionist regime against Palestine, but also the silence of the western leaders in return of the Zionist occupation of Palestine was followed up with the weakness of the Arab world, domestic disputes of Palestine and the supports of the Palestine’s self authority with Israel and the security cooperation with that in this regards has suppressed the resistance and Palestinian fighters and it has always encouraged the Zionist regime to continue its crimes.
