According to Fars News Agency Epic and Resistance Service, Mohammad Ali Rajaei was born in 1933 in Ghazvin city. He was elected as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the majority votes of the Iranian nation in 1981.
His presidency lifetime did not last for more than a month. He was martyred along with martyr Bahonar as one of his close friends on August 29, 1981during a bombing explosion at the presidency office. Martyr Rajaei during this short period of time visited the war zones and the memory of this visit has been mentioned in the book ‘The Winner Phoenix’.
Brother Vazvaei would walk near Mr. Rajaei side by side and he would show the Iraqi rifle pits which had been captured by the Iranian war veterans so proudly.
It was close to the noon and the president entered one of the rifle pits. The war veterans got so delighted and they offered him a watermelon. They looked for a sharp blade to cut the watermelon, but they did not find anything. Eventually by searching so much, they found a knife and a fork.
The president asked: “How do you want to eat?”? The war veterans offered him to start first and they said: “Here you are”?. Mr. Rajaei in a friendly behavior said: “I will eat the watermelon the same as you.”? After that he knelt down on the ground the same as other war veterans. He put the fork away and he started eating the watermelon by hands and he asked the other war veterans to start too.
The war veterans got so happy and delighted when they observed that the president of their country had sat down near them so simple and he was eating watermelon in the same way that the other war veterans were eating.
