According to Fars News Agency, On August 21, 1969 "Al-Aqsa Mosque", the first Kiblah of Muslims in the world and one of the holiest places of respect for religions, was burnt down by the Extremist Zionists and some considerable losses took place against this mosque.

Following the anger and hatred of the Muslims in all around the world, the Zionist regime attributed the incident to an Australian evangelical Christian named Denis Michael Rohan and the Zionists introduced him as the agent of the burning down Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore in a show court, they trailed him and later they freed him with the claim that he was mentally sick.

Al-Aqsa Mosque fire took place a year after the military occupation by Israel captured East Jerusalem during the 6-day war of June 1967.

At the time, "Golda Meir" a member of "action party”? recently and following the death of Levi Eshkol had reached the post of the Israeli prime minister.

Also some excavations were done in the holy shrine as well and they created some crossed tunnels in the lower parts of the mosque.

The main purpose of doing all of these activities was to damage Al-Aqsa mosque gradually so that they construct the Jewish Temple known as Solomon's temple; that is why should Al-Aqsa Mosque fire incident to happen in this regard in order to destroy the building.

During the Al-Aqsa Mosque fire, at least 200 meters from the roof of the mosque was completely destroyed, the Domes of the Mosque were burnt in five point and one of the works of the mosque along with an old pulpit with a value of 800 years background was fired and was destroyed by fire.

The crime led to the anger of Muslims in all around the world and led to many media Islamic countries need to respond to the aggressive actions of the Zionists. Due to this issue that it was the biggest Zionist crime against the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the ten months of the occupation of East Jerusalem by them.

Following this event, the Islamic countries came together in order to establish an organization titled ‘Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC)’, therefore the firing of Al-Aqsa mosque became a reason for creation and formation of Organization of the Islamic Conference in September 1969.

This organization was established a month after the accident, during a meeting with leaders of Islamic countries in Rabat the capital of Morocco.

During the 6-day war in which Israel defeated the Arabs, split stacks in the spirit of the people and had many Muslim states, cleared this issue that an Islamic organization must be established.

During the 6-day war which took place by Israeli troops, the Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, the Golan Heights from Syria and the West Bank including East Jerusalem were separated from Jordan and they occupied it.

Hence, countries like Saudi Arabia and the Shah of Iran in negotiations with the western authorities became the pioneers of holding a Summit that was neutral and non-reactive.

Rabat meeting which was opened with a speech by the Shah of Iran was the result of the same attitude. The Shah of Iran did not mention any names of Al-Aqsa firing in his words and he only invited the Islamic countries to an understanding and empathy with each other.

Rabat meeting was administered in a way that in its final resolution, no name of Jerusalem was mentioned and instead Hebrew word of Jerusalem was used. During this conference even the offer the Palestine’s Liberation Organization regarding establishment of Islamic Countries against the Zionist regime and boycotting this regime was not stated and the most intense position of the Rabat meeting against the Zionist regime was calling the regimes to return to the borders of before June 1967.
