MP Stresses Necessity for Supporting Palestinian Nation

Navideshahed: A senior Iranian lawmaker stressed the growing global opposition to the Zionist regime, specially after the recent popular uprisings in the region, and urged Muslims to strengthen unit against the Israeli regime.

"Muslims all around the world should be united against the Zionist regime as we are witnessing that Christians, too, are staging rallies against the occupying regime," Member of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ahmad Showhani, told FNA on Monday.

He pointed to the International Quds Day due to be held this Friday, and predicted massive public participation in this year's rallies throughout the world, specially after the recent uprisings toppled the US and Israel-backed puppet regimes in the region.

Millions of people are expected to take part in the International Quds Day (Friday, August 17) rallies in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people and all oppressed nations around the world.

The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.

International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, specially in Iran.
