Iranians Mark 30th Anniversary of Khorramshahr Liberation

Iran's Armed Forces said in a statement, the Liberation of Khorramshahr changed the balance of power in the war against Iraq and cast doubt on the ability of Saddam’s war machine which had received the full economical, military and intelligence support of the US.


The US and other supporters of the Saddam regime who beat drums of war plunged to their defeat and had no choice but agree to call a truce.


The statement emphasizes the importance of the Liberation of Khorramshahr, saying the Iranians owe their outstanding position in the region and Iran’s effective role in the Islamic Awakening movement and the anti-arrogance stance in the region to the epic feat achieved in Korramshahr.


The Iranian forces launched the Beit ol-Moqaddas Operation in April 1982 and liberated Khorramshahr from Iraqi occupation on May 24 of the same year.
