The second phase of the military operation began on May 18, 1988 in the public war zone of Mavoot located in Soleimaniyeh province. During this attack the forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps attacked the enemy headquarters while the enemy was aware of their presence and once again they kill and injure some of them. Also they captured Colonel Selah Ahmad Hassan, the commander of the second battalion of the brigade 448 and several senior officials of the Iraqi Baathist regime.
After launching this phase, the targets of the operation were fully provided and the efforts of enemy to push back Iranian forces from the captured war zones were useless. When the enemy was defeated badly by Iranian forces, it deployed chemical weapons, but the chemical weapons were neutralized by the Chemical Weapons Defense reaction and the Iranian war veterans stabilized the capture of the war zone.
As a result during this operation more than 30 to 70 % of the brigades 448 and 606 of the infantryman Army of Iraq were damaged and the brigade 76 of the infantryman Army 4 were almost damaged. During this operation more than 2000 of the Iraqis were killed and injured and 400 forces were captured.
