Finnish Church Turns to Mosque

Navideshahed: An old Church in Lahti, Finland was turned to a mosque.

According to the Islamic Ummah website quoting Shabestan News , the Islamic Center which does some activities in Laheti city of Finland bought a building in this city and it started to change the facility into a mosque.

This building which was a church during the years 1920 to 1970, it had been changed into an artistic center for several years, but at the moment the facility has been turned into an Islamic and Cultural Center and a Mosque.

The director of the Information Center of Islamic Section regarding this issue said: “Opening the mosque and Islamic Cultural Center can be considered as an important step for the purpose of stability and continuity of religious values.”?

Yerki Meliviran, the mayor of Laheti city during the inauguration ceremony of the mosque said: “The number of the Muslims in Finland is about 50.000 persons who belong to different nationalities.”?

According to this report, Finland is one of the European countries which have a friendly interaction with other religions and the government of this country has encouraged the activities of Islamic Society Union and it attempts to support them as well.
