Enemies Seeking to Boost Arms Sales through Spreading Iranophobia in Region

Navideshahed: Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi reiterated that the western countries are seeking to sell their arms through sparking and spreading Iranophobia in the region.

"Enemies are attempting to portray the Iranian navy's defensive preparedness as a threat to regional security," Vahidi told reporters on Tuesday after Iran's naval forces staged parades to mark the end of 10-day drills in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean.

Vahidi said that Iran has always tried to convey a message of peace and security to the regional nations through its wargames.

He said the Iranophobia plot is actually meant to save the enemies' bankrupt economies, and explained that enemies are seeking to portray a dreadful image of Iran in a bid to goad the regional states into purchasing more arms from them.

Many world countries, including Iran, have blasted the US for increasing the sales of modern weaponries to the regional states, saying that the move is aimed at sowing discord among the regional counties and intensifying arms race among them.

The United States has recently announced deals with several Persian Gulf Arab states on selling advanced military tools and weapons, including hundreds of bunker busters, to these nations.
