Iran Slams Ashura, Tasua Bombings

Navideshahed: Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan on Tasua and Ashura which killed scores of mourners.

Salehi described the bombings as an attempt to fuel tribal and religious tensions, and to create insecurity and instability in regional countries.

The Iranian foreign minister urged people to exercise self-restraint, warning that foreign countries seek to disturb peace and stability in the region through provoking sectarian and tribal conflict.

On Monday, separate bomb attacks killed at least 33 Shia mourners and wounded 101 others across Iraq.

The blasts occurred as Shia Muslims were marking the martyrdom anniversary of Muslim's third Imam, Hussein (PBUH).

The attacks are widely believed to have been carried out by foreign-linked elements in an effort to undermine public trust in Iraqi security forces ahead of the withdrawal of US forces.

On Tuesday, at least 54 Afghans lost their lives in two separate explosions in Afghanistan's Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif when Muslims were mourning.
