Confrontation of some social groups with the government became obvious since the Qajar period and the clergies played an important role in this field as well. This confrontation for pioneering and its depth was too much different with the other groups including intellectuals. Nature of this difference was sourced from a power which was hidden in the human beings of clergies. Thus, when during the decade 1960s it faced with the power authorities, no unprecedented issue occurred.
In the Qajar and early Pahlavi periods, this contrast showed itself with the intensity or weaknesses. But what occurred on June 5, 1963 was too much different with the previous events. Political transformation was in the minds of the clergies and its founder was no one except Imam Khomeini.
Before this any political power which would be manifested in the rule configuration, with the power of the religious issues would be appeared among the clergies and they unexpectedly had to live together.
Although this belief was undermined during the first Pahlavi regime on the side of Reza Shah and Shah obviously announced that he wanted to omit the religious powers, but his failure during the first stage became an experience for the heir to the crown that they know when these two powers live as two contradictory circles, tolerating the religious power for the government was no problem and without any difficulty and indeed it was a reality too. Considering the series of events in the history of Iran between political power and religious power emerged, indicates that these two agents, despite of infractions and contraries, they have lived together too.
After the uprising of June 5, 1963, a unique reverence occurred between these two powers, in a way that the religious power gave up living with the political power traditionally and it defeated it. This phenomenon was based on a new theory. The clergies did not need to monitor or support the political power, and it attempted to take the political power as well. In fact that meant profound changes in all state mechanisms: Revolution. Of course this new outlook was not popularized in the early times not among the clergies and not between individual people. If it was like this, what occurred on February 11, 1979 would happen fifteen years earlier. First, this belief was made by Imam Khomeini and later by some of his students. Its expansion and deepening required time.
Atonement for the belief to this theory occurred on June 5, 1963 both by a group of people by being killed in this way and by the clergies by being sent to the prisons. Imam was imprisoned for a while and then he was freed. He was under control of the regime authorities, although the Shah’s regime decided to execute Imam Khomeini, but by the supports of the clergies, this regime gave up this work.
In fact Imam Khomeini was banished and he was away from the country for 15 years, and this work took place because of his insistence for this belief. Imam Khomeini had patience to achieve his goal; he waited for the obvious conflicts of people.
On the thirteenth year of his monitoring, the first mass movement took place in Iran after a mysterious death of his son in Najaf.
Shah was pleased with suppressing the uprising of June 5, 1963 and he thought that the case of religious power is closed and according to the tradition that depends on the block, he thought that the next threats and conflicts will have no source except the communists.
Shah his overhead administration started some activities with the name of reform measures with this thought to suppress the probable potential workers revolutions and rebels that could be led by the northern neighbor.
But what was important was the security for the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf for the United States and also providing economic and security support for Israel. Shah was successful in implementing this mission, but the sale of Iran’s independence was followed with high cost for Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. He would provide all the required environments for the religious power to rule once again unexpectedly and when the case was apparently closed, this power revolted in 1979 and once again the religious power got the political power as well. He left the country in disbelief and he likely passed away because of this disbelief as well.
