Religious Principles of Self Sacrifice and Martyrdom
We are speaking about “Martyr”?; that great man whose knowledge about his religion took him to the battle fields of fight against the untruth and cruelty; the person who has welcomed the destructive plots of the enemy and has preferred meeting with God – by making the religion ever lasting - to keeping a disgraceful silence in front of the enemy. This way he has achieved eternity too.
We are speaking about “Martyr”?; that great man whose knowledge about his religion took him to the battle fields of fight against the untruth and cruelty; the person who has welcomed the destructive plots of the enemy and has preferred meeting with God – by making the religion ever lasting - to keeping a disgraceful silence in front of the enemy. This way he has achieved eternity too.
Basically, in the value system of Islam “Martyrdom”? is a criterion by which many of values and benevolence are evaluated and find their position in the ranking of values; because for any good action, there is a better action in the ladder of development and improvement; but for “Martyrdom”?, there is no better action. “Martyrdom”? a glorious appearance of belief and commitment that creates epic. Therefore, “Red Death”? [Martyrdom] during jihad [Fighting in the way of God] in the way of God is the holiest objective of a committed Muslim person during his life. The best epic stories were created by these lovers of martyrdom during the history of Islam.
By pouring their innocent blood, they have removed obstacles in the way of development and growth of human. This way, they paved grounds for the ruling of God and the ruling of people who behave as God has commanded.
We should know the fact that “Martyr”? has special logic and way of thinking when he chooses his way towards God.
Knowing this way of thinking and becoming familiar with the principles of his ideology and thought will greatly help us to step into the same way and develop the culture of self sacrifice and martyrdom in the society.
Yes, “Martyrdom”? is the old wish of the believers. “Martyrdom”? is the highest point in maturity of an innocent man. “Martyrdom”? is achieving the happiness of presence of God. “Martyrdom”? is going to the best and safest places in the heaven. “Martyrdom”? is the highest point to which a believer and aware combatant can fly.
I hope that we – the lovers of the way of true martyrs – fill our hearts with the enthusiasm to reach to that perfection. I hope that we fight with enemies with the weapon of belief. And I hope that we are able to eliminate the root of cruelty and badness from the world this way. I hope that we bring back happiness and health to the Islamic Society in the light of thoughts of martyrs.
