Hadi Khour-shahian Said:

We Can Still Write about the Imposed War

TEHRAN, (SCIB) – We can still write about the event of the imposed war. And we can write stories about this event as we still write about the “Constitutional Revolution”? and “Kashf-e Hejab”? [The act of taking scarves from heads of women in order to modernize them in the age of Reza Shah about 80 years ago].

In an interview with the reporter of “Shahr”?; the writer of the Book “No 61”? said the above and added: “Some people believe that it is better not to focus on the main events of the imposed war because years have passed since war. These people think that it is better to speak and write about the side effects and events of war; but we can still speak about the imposed war as a part of history of this land as we still speak and write about “Kashf-e Hejab”? and the “Constitutional Revolution”?.”?
In continuation, he said: “We should benefit from the appropriate tools in order to speak about the war during the post war years. It means that at any time we can use the particular expression way that is coordinated with that period of time. Today, audiences may mostly welcome the works with comedy genres; then we can pay attention to the jokes and funny things that combatants told each other during war. Or we can look at this historical event with a comedy view.”?
Khoor-shahian further referred to the fact that the feeling of people about war has been moderated at the present time. He further added: “There was one time that writers described and pictured the Iraqis as wretched and helpless people. And they pictured the Iranians as very courageous and brave people; and it was because circumstances demanded that way during that period of time. At that time, TV and books were tools for encouraging the young people for going to battle fields and fight; but today, the situation has changed and the feeling of people have been moderated. Therefore, we can writer about war without being caught in the extremes [Too much or too little]. And we can search for the truths of the war.”?
In conclusion, Hadi Khoor-shahian said: “Politics is an influential factor on stories and films about war. In addition to moderation of feelings, the political ties between Iran and Iraq influences on the literature and art of sacred defense. How ever, the form of “Story”? is a suitable tool for speaking and writing about war; but “Poetry”? is used for expressing momentarily emotions and excitements.”?
