Who are the Veterans?
Lo! Dear friend you tell me with what pencil can I write about generosity. Isar is seen in the behavior and treatment of the of the veteran people who cleanse their spirit so as to achieve their Beloved i. e. God so much so that they achieve the grand position and are addressed by God: (Consider me among your servants and send me to the heavensÙ?ادخلي Ù?ÙŠ عبادي Ùˆ ادخلي جنتي).
In this article please let me write about the origins and etymology of the word. It is possible that there are some meanings that are hidden in the word and clarifying them might be useful to understand the topic. Because it necessary to clarify the situation for a generation who are under the attacks of the west and are wandered in lack of identity because anything refers back to its origin. It is not possible to make anything bad, good because the base and origin are bad.
Isar means giving priority to others rather oneself in anything. What do you see in the word Isar. You see the meaning of Isar in itself and feel what it means with all your heart.
Now let’s see what the concepts of Isar are and think when the words (Isar and culture) came to life and who the fathers and mothers of Isar are.
Let’s ask ourselves if the concepts of Isar and self – abnegation were born with the advent of the Islamic Republic or if the history of Isar goes back to the times of the innocent Imams? What we have lost? In what period and in which century?
In order to investigate the history of Isar and its origin we have to refer to a superficial division shortly:
Definitions of the concepts:
Culture: Indicates all the methods of life which come in to life by human beings.
Performing Acts of Isar: It can be defined in two special and common meanings:
The common definition of performing acts of Isar is that it belongs to all the human nations and is available in all cultures. The concepts of Isar can be divided nationally and humanely and humane section is more universal than the other.
On both the national and humanely dimensions Isar, it means abnegation of the personal profits for the sake of the others and this kind of Isar does not belong to a special group in a special area. One example is taking part in war with the trespassing of the foreign enemy. If self abnegation does not belong to a special geographical territory and serves all human beings and humanity, it is Isar on a humane level. One example for this is the activities and performances of the borderless physicians.
The concept of performing acts of Isar on the special level is also interpreted on two levels: Religious Isar and Isar on the part of the members of a movement.
Whenever the individual forsakes his / her own wishes for the sake of his / her religion we have Isar for the sake of religion (by religion I mean those ones that have been sent by God). But when a person forsakes his / her wishes for the sake of a movement it is called Isar for the sake of Movement such as Communism and other party ideals. But dying for the sake of belief is a kind of Isar and on a broader level it refers to when a person dies for the sake of that party or for the sake of religion. This is why martyrdom in this meaning is valuable for all generations and nations.
Ok! Since we are talking about women veterans I take this opportunity and go back to browsing the history of Islam and we refer to two great examples of Isar in two different historical eras but with a unique aim in both gender and goals; i. e. Isar on the part of women. When the concept of Isar reaches its apex, it will last for ever. Let’s look at Hajar. She forsaken herself and made Jihad and suffered for the death of Ishmael. He was the Hajar who has forsaken her home and commuted between Safa and Marveh 7 times; she tried hard to reach where she is now. She forgot personal wills to come close to God.
She was the first teacher of those who go on pilgrimage to Mecca.
Yes. She taught beautiful lessons to humanity by trying so hard, a lesson whose book is Isar, whose chapters are Safa and Marveh and whose apex is in Hajj. It is a great lesson and for the acceptance of Hajj is dependant on trying hard between Safa and Marveh.
Now let’s see another great woman and take a look at their home. This home is that of Fatima Zahra (S. A.) and Ali (A. S.). Look more carefully and note that this is Zahra (S. A.). Look more carefully and note how Zahra (S. A.) performs acts of isar to defend the borders of Vilayat. She does so everywhere in a way that she teaches people how to support Vilayat. Now we should ask to where do the history of women’s veteran deeds refer and where is the real place of this self abnegation. Lo! Great men, why don’t you pay attention to this side of the border and see that our youths and our brave young men have got lessons from the lessons of self sacrifice, bravery and Isar from Ishmael and Ali Akbar from the innocent Imams and … our brave women have been under the influence of Zahra and our little children were taught through His Holiness Ali Asghar and Roghaieh. If you have a glance over the history of Islam you could see the lessons of self sacrifice and Isar on every page and it is these lessons that are left as heritages for us. And you, great men of Iran and great politicians of Islamic Republic of Iran, be aware and let’s teach each other lessons of brevity and Isar. Be aware that martyrdom is a kind of performing Isar and that the veterans are the alive martyrs of our country and the conductors of this revolution.
