Egypt’s Shias Call for Reopening of Imam Hussein (AS) Mosque

Navideshahed- Secretary General of Egyptian Shia group Al Al-Bayt Assembly has urged the country’s authority to reopen the Imam Hussein (AS) Mosque in Cairo.

Abdul Nassir Al-Hilmi dismissed allegations that the mosque had become a center for (illegal) activities of Shias, Buratha news agency reported.
“Our efforts to contact Egypt’s Awqaf ministry have so far failed. The mosque’s board of trustees has also urged for reopening the mosque but their calls have also been unsuccessful,”? he stated.
Al-Hilmi rejected claims by some officials that the mosque was closed in order to prevent clashes between Shias and Sunnis, saying that Shias are a minority in Egypt and have never created any trouble.
As for the relics attributed to Prophet Muhammad (PUBH) that were kept in the mosque, he said the data-x-items as well as an old manuscript copy of the Quran dating back to the time of Caliph Othman have been taken from Imam Hussein (AS) Mosque to an undisclosed location.
