Depression has a negative effect on the physical and psychological health and one should not be careless about it. Because of this the researcher has investigated this issue among shahed and non _ shahed high school students of Paveh. The research methodology is comparative.
The research community includes the high schools of Paveh. 60 students who have lost their fathers during the forced war, 60 students who are bereft of their fathers, and 60 students whose fathers are alive have been studied (the age span of the students was 14 _ 20 years old). Sampling was conducted at random. The statistical methods used are: 1. descriptive statistics and 2. Deductive statistics: for consecutive data, T _ Test and correlation coefficients were used and for disperse data, X² test was used. The means of research to measure depression is Beck’s questionnaire and a self made questionnaire. With regard to the presented hypothesis, the results indicate:
1.There is meaningful difference between the depression of the male shahed students and male non _ shahed students whose fathers are alive.
2.There is not meaningful difference between the depression of the male shahed students and male non _ shahed students who are bereft of their fathers.
3.There is not meaningful difference between the depression of the male shahed students and female shahed students.
4.There is not meaningful difference between the depression of the female shahed students and female non _ shahed students whose fathers are alive.
5.There is not meaningful difference between the depression of the female shahed students and female non _ shahed students who are bereft of their fathers.
6.There is not meaningful difference between depression of the male shahed students and the male non _ shahed students whose fathers are alive.
7.There is not meaningful difference between depression of the male shahed students and the female non _ shahed students who are bereft of their fathers.
8.There is not meaningful difference between depression and period of martyrdom in both male and female shahed students.
9.There is meaningful difference between the period of bereavement of fathers and the degree of depression among the non _ shahed male students but this difference was not observed among female students.
10.There is meaningful difference between economical condition and depression of male and female shahed children, those whose fathers are alive as well as those who have lost their fathers.
