Investigating the prevalence of depression among the youths who have lost their fathers indicates that the degree of depression among these youngsters is more than that of those youngsters whose parents are alive.
The main question of the research is to see if there is any relationship between the youths who have lost their fathers and those whose fathers are alive from the point of view of depression. The research community includes all the male shahed and non _ shahed students of Nowshahr among whom the researcher has chosen 50 shahed students and 50 non _ shahed students as sample. The means of the research is Back’s Questionnaire of Depression (the shorter form). By the use of statistical methods such as comparing the averages of the two groups and calculating variance and T _ Test it was clarified that there is difference between the youths who have lost their fathers and those whose fathers are alive from the point of view of depression; the degree of depression among the non _ shahed students is less than that of the shahed students.
