The present research aims at comparing stress level and self _ respect of the shahed students who have step _ fathers and those who do not and identifying the comparative mechanisms of the both groups and presenting practical and applicable guidelines. The research methodology is causative _ comparative and the research community includes the shahed students who have step fathers with those who do not, the age span of the chosen students is 19 -24 years old; these students were studying at the University of Mashhad. 200 students were chosen at random as sample and the means of collecting data are the Cooper _ Smiths’ Self _ Respect Test and Spill _ Berger’s Stress Test. The results of the research indicate:
There is a meaningful difference between the stress level of the students who have step fathers and those who do not. Also there is a meaningful difference between the self _ respect of the students who have step fathers and those who do not.
