Addressing the 193-member UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, Al-e-Habib dubbed the Israeli regime as "the main reason behind insecurity and instability in the Middle East."
He strictly condemned the comments earlier made during the session by the Israeli permanent representative to the UN Ron Prosor, and added, "These allegations are stated while the international community is frustrated at the regime's activities due to its inhumane, aggressive, and criminal track record and also its terrorist activities in the region and other parts of the world."
The regime usurps every opportunity to deflect the international community's attention from its own oppressive activities and the comments made by its representative to the UN serve the same purpose, pointed out the Iranian official.
Israel and its close ally the United States accuse Iran of seeking a nuclear weapon, while they have never presented any corroborative document to substantiate their allegations. Both Washington and Tel Aviv possess advanced weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear warheads.
Iran vehemently denies the charges, insisting that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only. Tehran stresses that the country has always pursued a civilian path to provide power to the growing number of Iranian population, whose fossil fuel would eventually go dry.
The End
