Sit-in against Chilas Tragedy outside Pakistani Parliament Enters Second Day

Navideshahed: The sit-in staged on a call from Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen outside Parliament House to protest against Chilas Tragedy has entered second day on Saturday.

Despite scorching heat, caravans from surrounding areas have started reaching the venue to mark solidarity with suppressed people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Religious seminaries have also expressed their support to the call of the MWM and their representatives also joined the protest. Notables and professionals have also joined them for a common cause. Many eminent political, religious and social figures have also expressed their all out support to the MWM’s legitimate demands.

“Detesting the oppressors and suppressors and to help the oppressed one is part of our creed,”? speaking to the sit-in, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, MWM’s chief said.

He further said that the sit-in would continue as long as all bodies of the martyrs of Chilas Tragedy were handed over to the heirs for interment, lifting of curfew for establishment of a durable peace and elimination of terrorists’ safe-havens.

Shaikh Nayyar Abbas Mustafavi, secretary general of the MWM Gilgit-Baltistan chapter said that government had not honoured its assurance that the charter of demand of Shia Muslims of Gilgit-Baltistan would be implemented.

He recalled that Government has made this assurance in talks with the representative religious scholars of Gilgit-Baltistan in the wake of Kohistan Tragedy.

Massacring Shiites, according to Allama Ghulam Askari of Punjab, is an act of humiliation against humanity.
