Students' Statement:

Iran Needless of Europe

Navideshahed: Iran is needless of Europe as it can run its affairs without any need to the European countries, Iranian students said in a statement on Sunday after some EU member states recalled their ambassadors from Tehran for consultations.

"Europe should not imagine that we need it. Not at all! We do not need it and we can manage our country without Europe," the statement said on Sunday, quoting the comments made by the late founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini.

The statement warned certain European countries against recalling their envoys from Tehran, and said Europeans have already made the very same mistake twice and they were forced to return their envoys to Iran in both cases while they gained nothing through their measure but a loss of their interests.

The Iranian students also underlined their support for their friends who occupied the British embassy in Tehran in protest at the inimical stances and attitude of London towards the Iranian nation and in demand for a full cut of ties with Britain.

Thousands of university students who were angry at Britain's growing hostilities towards Iran occupied the British embassy for a couple of hours Tuesday night to demand a severance of Iran's relations with Britain.

The embassy attack was an outpouring of the wrath of the Iranian people who believe Britain is a hostile country seeking to damage and weaken the Islamic Republic.

The parliament had already approved the bill of a law on downgrading relations with Britain, but students were not pleased with the approval and demanded a full cut of relations with London.

The developments in Tehran came a week after the US and Britain targeted Iranian financial sectors with new punitive measures, including sanctions on the Iran's Central Bank and petrochemical industry.
