Dr. Larijani:

Enemies Seeking to Stir Conflicts between Sunnis and Shiites to Stop Regional Revolutions

Navideshahed: Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani strongly condemned the attempts made by the western countries to prevent the spread of the current uprisings and revolutions to the other regional states, and cautioned that enemies are seeking to sow discord between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims to the same end.

According to Navideshahed and as reported by Fars News Agency, Dr. Larijani, referring to the attempts made by the western spy agencies to prevent the spread of popular uprisings in the region, said: "Westerners have been trying to stir sectarian strife between the Shiites and the Sunnis."

"A number of analysts in the West and the prescriptions that they write in the White House show that they are seeking to confront and stop the waves of thought and thinking.

"But, Muslims are after their genuine reputation which has been destroyed by the westerners," he added.

Political observers believe that the recent uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain and Jordan are the result of America's double standards in the Middle-East and its biased policies against different nations.

People in the Middle-East now believe that the western approach to the ongoing revolutions in Egypt, Tunisia, Bahrain, Jordan, Yemen and Libya has unveiled the true nature of the West's stance on democracy.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi had reiterated that the recent uprisings in the Middle-East and North Africa are rooted in the people's struggle for independence from Washington's hegemonic rule.

He also blamed the hegemonic policies practiced by certain western countries in the region as the main cause of bloodshed and brutalities against peaceful protestors in the regional countries.

"The history testifies that the hegemonic policies of certain western powers are the main cause of bloodsheds and agonies in the region," Salehi said in March.
