First Conference on legal Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to be held

TEHRAN, (SCIB) - The Society of victims of Chemical Weapons is holding its first legal conference on the prohibition of the development of chemical weapons.

The conference is being held in the law faculty of Martyr Beheshti University on June 27, concurrent with the 20th anniversary of Sardasht chemical attack as well as the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the convention on the prohibition of the development of chemical weapon. The organizers of the event host a number of legal researchers to discuss the legal position of the application of chemical weapons, their production and use, Hossein Kazemian, executive secretary of the conference told reporters. “I am afraid not much scientific research has been conducted in this area, despite the passage of 20 years since the tragic chemical attack on Sardasht”? he added. “A black list of the producers of death has been prepared which will be distributed among participants during the conference.”? Kazemian announced. The list enumerates the names of the producers, users and distributors of chemical weapons while discussing criminological issues and the trade of such weapons. The conference aims to initiate discussion on the legal position of chemical weapons so that legal researchers will know the legislations that Iran needs as a country that is a victim of such weapons.
