Over 500,000 Lebanese Hold Anti-US Rally over Sacrilegious Film

Navideshahed: More than half a million Lebanese have held an anti-US rally in the capital, Beirut, to protest against a film insulting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Chanting anti-US slogans, tens of thousands of Lebanese took to the streets on Monday to express their anger over the sacrilegious movie a day after Hezbollah leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah called for a series of angry protests across Lebanon over the US-produced film mocking Islam.

"America is the great Satan!" and "Death to Israel! Death to Israel!" the protesters shouted.

"We sacrifice ourselves for you, O Mohammed!" and "We sacrifice ourselves for you, O Islam. "O America, listen to us, you cannot humiliate our religion!"

Nasrallah also joined the rally and made a speech.

On Sunday, Nasrallah described the film as the worst attack ever on Islam.

The movie has sparked anti-US protests across the world, including Pakistan, Afghanistan Yemen, Indonesia, Sudan, Egypt and many other countries.

Angry protesters have also attacked US embassies in Egypt, Libya, Yemen and Sudan, torching the US flags. Following the attacks, Washington evacuated most of its diplomatic staff from Libya to Germany and closed its Yemen embassy.

The US missions are on high alert across the Muslim world as anger grows over the insulting movie.
