Bahraini Protesters Demand Release of Prisoners

Navideshahed: Bahraini protesters continue their anti-regime demonstrations in Manama and several villages across the sheikdom to demand the release of political prisoners

Protesters took to the streets in the northern village of Jidd Hafs, east of the capital, calling for the immediate release of the political prisoners from jails.

On Monday, Bahraini security forces attacked the protesters in northeastern island of Sitra and the village of Karanah, also in the north, using teargas canisters and rubber bullets to break up their rallies.

The protesters had staged the demonstrations to demand the downfall of the Al Khalifa regime and the release of political prisoners.

At least 30 protesters have been arrested in Sitra and Karanah over the past week.

Anti-regime protests in Bahrain continue despite the heavy-handed crackdown by the Western-backed monarchy.
