US Drone Attack Kills 5 in Yemen
Navideshahed: A US drone attack has killed at least five people travelling in a vehicle in eastern Yemen, according to a local official.
The strike occurred near the village of al-Qotn in the province of Hadramut on Saturday, the unnamed official said.
Witnesses said Yemeni security forces had deployed around the site of the strike and sealed it off.
The United States is the only country that has drones in the region and in recent months it has been carrying out strikes in the south and east of the country.
The US has launched numerous drone attacks in Yemen that have killed many innocent civilians over the past few years.
Washington claims it is targeting militants but witness reports and figures provided by local officials indicate that civilians are the main victims of the attacks.
