Shia Conference Held despite Police Crackdown

Navideshahed: Labbaik Ya Hussein Conference of Shia Ulema Council was held in Khairpur despite police’s teargas shelling and crackdown on the SUC’s officials and workers.

Dozens of shiites were injured due to police baton-charge, firing of rubber bullets and tear gas shelling.

Despite blockades of many areas of Khairpur and curfew like situation in Shia areas, a large number of participants managed to reach the venue of the conference.

Allama Sajid Naqvi, chief of Shia Ulema Council, condemned the police crackdown and said that police and administration was playing a partial role in favour of banned terrorist outfit.

He said that Shia Muslims had no option but to protest against the injustices being done to them. He said after Shia Ulema Council’s Ulema Conference and Khairpur Conference, a successful countrywide protest call would be given soon.

“Government has failed to give a just police to run national affairs. Like their biased and failed policy in Gilgit in favour of terrorists, their role in Khairpur too is biased and partial,”? he said.

He assigned Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi, general secretary of the SUC, to remain in Khairpur till the release of all the arrested Shia Muslims.

Allama Mohsin Mehdavi, Allama Riaz Husseini, Allama Jafar Subhani, Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi and other Shia scholars also spoke at the conference.

They demanded dismissal of biased DIG Sukkur Division and SSP Police Khairpur and release of all the innocent Shia Muslims. They demanded arrest of the terrorists belonging to banned Sipah-e-Sahaba.

They said target killings of Shia Muslims continued and witch hunt against Shia Muslims was also launched in all over Pakistan. They said Shia Muslims are peaceful citizens of Pakistan.
