The Most Exquisite Quranic Carpet on Display in Paris

Navideshahed: The most exquisite Quranic carpet dubbed ‘Carpet of Love’ has been exhibited by the Iranian Cultural Center in Paris.

The carpet has been designed and woven in Tabriz University of Islamic Art.

Cultural director of the university Behboud Asgharzadeh, who is in Paris told correspondent that the ‘Carpet of Love’ was woven with silk and wool.

He said the double-sided leaves of the carpet have 80 rows, adding that each leaf is 4 millimeters thick. “The 45-by-75-centimeter Quranic carpet has been woven in 152 pages (leaves) in Othman Taha Script.”?

Asgharzadeh noted that a sample of the carpet was woven under the supervision of the university’s chancellor Mohammad Ali Keynejad and presented to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei. “The Supreme Leader praised the work and suggested that the entire Quran be woven in the form of a carpet. The complete work was unveiled in a ceremony in March 2011 in the presence of the Supreme Leader.”?

He said the artwork has been displayed in different Iranian cities as well as cities in Pakistan, Malaysia, and Turkey, always receiving praise.

Asgharzadeh went on to say that the most exquisite Quranic carpet represents pure Iranian-Islamic art and symbolizes the love for the Quran.

The carpet has been on display in different centers in Paris including Al-Ghadir Shia Center, Beyt-uz-Zahra (SA) Center and the city’s grand mosque.
