Supreme Leader Meets with Expediency Council
Navideshahed: Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this evening with the chairman and members of the Expediency Council. During the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei described the Expediency Council as the manifestation of communal wisdom and stressed: "Part of the most fundamental issues of the country is handled by the council and this shows that the Expediency Council has a very important position."
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the constitutional obligations of the Expediency Council and added that providing consultation for the Leader when formulating general policies of the country is one of the important duties of the Expediency Council.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that resolving major issues of the country is another responsibility of the Expediency Council and stressed: "Another responsibility of the Expediency Council is to step in when the country reaches a dead end."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the structure of the Expediency Council and added: "When the Expediency Council decides that something is expedient, the vast majority of the members should believe in the decision."
His Eminence also referred to the progressive movement of the country and the Islamic Republic, further adding: "With a positive attitude towards the issues of the country, the Expediency Council should contribute to this progressive movement of the Islamic system."
