Senior Cleric Calls Azerbaijani Scholars to Unity

Grand Ayatollah Hussein Noori Hamedani, top Shia jurisprudent in a meeting with Azerbaijan scholars called for unity and vigilance of Muslims, highlighting the importance of preparation for jihad and martyrdom in Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He also addressed Azeri President Ilham Aliyev saying the system that disappoints people is doomed to fail.

Still in his meeting with the Muslim scholars from Azerbaijan, Iranian cleric stressed the importance of scholars' mission because they have always been a shelter for the people.

"If it was not for the important role and uprising of the scholars, there would be no trace of Islam today," said Ayatollah Noori Hamedani and stressed, "We have to honor the efforts of the scholars and their sacrifice to stand against the oppressive powers and giving their life for that."

He called Muslim clerics as the political and faith guardians in the society and praised the constant efforts of the scholars against the divertive thoughts and their all out defence of the religion and path of Ahlul Bayt (AS).

He referred to the victory of the Islamic Revolution and leadership of late Imam Khomeini (RA) and called Ayatollah Khomeini (RA) as a powerful and determined aid for the people saying this is the people who are still defending the system and they have to be supported.

Grand Iranian religious figure also referred to the changes in the Middle East and spread of the Islamic Awakening and said, "The ouster of the puppet regimes of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan and other similar regimes is inevitable since they do not have a support among the people anymore."
