Joint Honoring of Syrian Martyrs, Families by Syrian, Iraqi, Lebanese Senior Officials

Navideshahed: In appreciation of the Syrian Army's sacrifices and in honor of the martyrs' souls and families, a youth group organized on Saturday "Martyrs… Wreaths of Roses" activity at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Mount Qassioun with the participation of political, religious and artistic figures from Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.

Head of the Lebanese Tawhid Party Weaam Wahhab said the conspiracy against Syria will be foiled thanks to the unity and strength of the Syrian people and their rallying around President Bashar al-Assad.

He described those plotting different scenarios to target Syria as fools, stressing that all attempts to take the Syrian file to the Security Council are doomed to fail.

Wahhab said that the sacrifices and the awareness of the Syrians have thwarted all attempts to divide Syria.

In turn, Sheikh Kameel Nasr from Sweida province stressed that the awareness of the Syrian youth, who voiced support to the comprehensive reform program, constitutes the foundation of modern Syria, hailing the sacrifices of the Syrian army and law-enforcement forces to defend the homeland.

MP Khaled al-Abboud said that the Arab countries' rejection of the report submitted by the Arab monitoring mission about the situation in Syria proves that they don't want a real and actual report on what is really taking place on the ground.

He stressed that their attempt to escalate media propaganda against Syria will fail, adding that the Syrians will win under the leadership of President al-Assad and with the support of their brothers and friends to overcome the current circumstances.

Journalist Nidal Qabalan underlined the sacrifices of the martyrs to safeguard the homeland, adding that all the Syrians are ready to sacrifice themselves for the sake of preserving Syria's dignity.

Hind Rafi, a member of the organizing group, said in a statement to SANA the event included laying wreaths depicting the Syrian flag in the shape of the Syrian map on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and honoring 16 families of martyrs.

Head of the National Association of Iraqi Refugees, Sheikh al-Murtaja al-Ka'bi, said that his participation in the event came to express the Iraqi people's support and solidarity with the Syrians in the face of those who want to undermine Syria's resistant role.

He added that those who call for change and democracy should head to ballot boxes and avoid the criminal way which has been logistically and materially supported by some of Syria's neighboring countries, stressing that the Iraqi people won't allow any aggression on Syria.

Political analyst Taleb Ibrahim said that honoring martyrs is a tradition for the Syrian people who offered thousands of their sons for the sake of the Arab Nation.

Father Gabriel Dawood from the Syrian Orthodox Patriarchate said that the secret of the Syrian steadfastness, represented in the greatness of its people, the strength of its army and the wisdom of its leadership, has defended Syria against all plots.

Brother of martyr Ghassan Fattoum said "We are proud of his martyrdom and we are more determinate to face the conspiracy targeting Syria."

A martyr's mother called upon the army and citizens to work together to get rid of the armed terrorist groups and restore stability and security in the country, adding that she is proud to sacrifice her son for the sake of 'the Great Syria'.

Brother of Martyr Kamal Nassr from Sweida said the event represents the national unity of the Syrian people that has fortified the homeland in the face of all its enemies.

Lawyer Farhan Darouish, the father of martyr Ahmad Darouish, expressed appreciation for this kind gesture to honor his son.
