Millions Commemorate Passing Anniversary of the Prophet

Navideshahed: More than five million pilgrims from different cities of Iraq and more than 100,000 pilgrims from other countries have traveled to the holy city of Najaf to commemorate the demise anniversary of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH).

Najaf's Governor, Adnan al-Zarfi, declared the success of the security plan for the ceremonies for the pilgrimage marking the demise of the holy Prophet of Islam, held in Najaf.

Head of the committee Lewi Al-Yasseri said the pilgrims are from different Arab and non-Arab countries, adding that preparations have been made for accommodating and serving the pilgrims.

He said a special ceremony was held in the mausoleum of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf on Sunday due to the demise anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
