Man’s Psychological Health Should be Sought in Quran

Navideshahed: The Holy Quran invites man to peaceful and healthy atmospheres and includes within its lofty verses the basic requirements for his psychophysical health.

“God invites you to the realm of peace; He guides whom He will to the straight path.”? (Quran:10/25)

Talking to IQNA, Rahim Ghorbani, head of the Center for Quran and Etrat affiliated to the Ministry of Medical Sciences, said that the Holy Quran discusses the individual and social health from various physical, psychological and spiritual aspects.

Referring to a great number of research projects conducted on Quranic research and medicine, he added: “The Quranic verses featuring the issue of health can be used by university professors and students as the best reference in this regard.”?

He further highlighted the Holy Book as the basis of health and spiritual growth for both the individual and society, calling for the administration of corresponding Quranic rules throughout society.

“The ministry is seeking to integrate the Quran’s verses as well as the Infallibles’ (AS) Hadiths with the country’s medical system,”? Mr. Ghorbani went on to say, noting that over 200 verses on medical issues have been so far extracted from the Holy Book.

He also expressed hope that more related verses could be found with the improvement of science in the future.

Mr. Ghorbani further highlighted the role of implementing Quranic sciences in medical fields, supporting the researchers and providing them with the required facilities and equipments, granting academic privileges, as well as accepting and publishing their articles in qualified journals or discussing them in the national media as effective factors that can promote corresponding activities among the academics.
