“Using pathetic excuses and through psychological and unilateral propaganda campaigns in the media, the Americans launched an all-out war against the people of Afghanistan and Iraq under the pretext of fighting terrorism and discovering weapons of mass destruction,”? Brigadier General Seyyed Massoud Jazayeri said Tuesday.

“The downfall of [executed Iraqi dictator] Saddam [Hussein] and the failure to uncover weapons of mass destruction in Iraq as well as the allegation of killing [al-Qaeda's number one Osama] bin Laden, challenged the excuses they (the Americans) used for attacking the region and resulted in the lies and deceitful ways of the White House coming to light,”? he added.

Recalling the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq in late 2011, he noted how the resistance of the Iraqi nation and government forced Washington to pull its troops out with “disgrace.”?

“The Americans, after nine years of occupation and committing many crimes and brutalities against the Iraqi nation, not only failed to gain any positive and glorious achievements but also suffered huge financial and human losses as a result of this war and occupation,”? the Iranian commander added.

He said the US-led war in Iraq resulted in the loss of more than 50,000 troops and inflicted irreparable psychological damage on US soldiers.

Jazayeri also pointed out that the United States spent more than one trillion dollars in American taxpayers' money on the decade-long occupation of Iraq, which has led to mass protests against Washington's policies.

“The people of America, in protest to the government of the country, question why they must pay the expenses of the warmongering of White House officials and their attempted expansionism and oppression.”?

Jazayeri said the US-led wars in the past decade has meaningfully helped raise the US general debt, which has topped USD 15 trillion, adding that this means “every US citizen is born with USD 45,000 in debt.”?

The commander said despite the US withdrawal from Iraq, the losses and damage inflicted on the Iraqi nation will linger on.

Jazayeri said the only way to end the current economic and social crises in the US is through the “reviewal of corrupt liberal democratic teachings and ousting the current regime”? in the country.
