Cleric Highlights Role of Arts in Promoting Islamic Cause

Grand Ayatollah Hussien Noori Hamedani, Iranian top jurisprudent met with the officials of Fajr Film Festival referring to the importance of arts in Islam and demanded more cooperation of filmmakers and religious figures, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

"Islam has a special attention to arts particularly visual arts," said the cleric referring to the influence of arts on the people as the reason for this special attention.

He also referred to the delicacy in works of art and said, "Once arts are the means for promotion of Islam and Islamic Revolution, they would leave a deep effect on promoting the high objectives of the system."

Ayatollah Noori Hamedani criticized filmmakers for a lack of council from the religious scholars and clerics in making religious films and demanded for more cooperation between artistic and religious experts.
