Iraqi Government Shall Decide on 7000 Iranian Missing Martyrs as Soon as Possible

Navideshahed: The Director General of Iranian Foreign Ministry Persian Gulf and Middle East Department, ‘Hossein Amir Abdollahian’, said: “It is necessary that the Iraqi government to consider a priority for searching the bodies of 7000 missing martyrs in the Iraqi territories and to encounter this issue more seriously.”?

According to Navideshahed quoting Fars News Agency (FNA), Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Director General of Iranian Foreign Ministry Persian Gulf and Middle East Department in response to this question that what will be the destiny of the 7000 missing martyrs in the Iraqi territories said: “We understand the current situation of Iraq and hereby we as the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran ask the Iraqi authorities to consider a priority for searching the bodies of the 7000 Iranian martyrs that have been left in the Iraqi territories. In fact they should encounter this matter more seriously, so that the families of martyrs and missing persons won’t be worried about the body of their martyred children anymore.”?

He continued: “We expect that Mr. Maleki and the other senior authorities of Iraq to issue a special demand in this field. Also following the serious efforts and negotiations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the Human Rights Ministry of Iraq, we hope that we will get good results in the field of searching the bodies of missing martyrs.”?

• Searching the bodies of 7000 missing martyrs in the lands of Iraq has reached great successes:
Saeed Mahboobi Nezhad, the deputy of Iraq’s Foundation for the Foreign Ministry during this visit regarding searching the bodies of 7000 missing martyrs of the Sacred Defense Era in the Iraqi territories said: “Good activities have been done in the field of searching the bodies of missing martyr bodies in the Iraqi lands. Of course before the searching, some coordination was done in the foreign ministry and all the organizations which have the ground commission to find the bodies of martyrs.”?

He continued: “Since the responsibility of searching the missing martyrs is a special responsibility of the Iraqi government, so hereby the Iraqi Human Rights Ministry, United Nations and Red Crescent are involved in this work. Also some teams under supervision of Commander Bagher Zadeh have reached great strategies and agreements with the Iraqi side in the field of searching the bodies of those martyrs that have been missed in the Iraqi territories.”?

The deputy of Iraq’ Foundation for the Foreign Ministry added: “In order to search the bodies of martyrs, at first the Iranian authorities must provide information regarding the missing martyrs for the Iraqi side, the second stage is preparing the territories by the Iraqis so that the lands won’t be considered as protected lands temporary and the third stage for this process is using required tools for searching the bodies of missing persons.”?

He added: “Detecting the war zones that the Iranian and Iraqis were present in during the Iran-Iraq war is the first stage for searching the bodies of martyrs; at the moment these lands are under the protection of Iraqi security forces. Also some Iraqi and American forces have stationed in these lands as well.”?
• Red Crescent Will Supervise the Searching Process for finding the missing martyrs bodies


Mahboobi Nezhad in response to this question that whether or not a mutual agreement can be concluded between Iraq and Iran without interference of Re Crescent said: “The process of searching and delivering the bodies of martyrs was an issue that would be done by the Red Crescent before falling of Saddam’s regime as well.”?

He added: “According to the special sensitiveness of this matter, the Iraqi government wants the Red Crescent to have supervision on the process of searching by considering the humanitarian issues and we have not opposed this issue too.”?

The deputy of Iraq’ Foundation for the Foreign Ministry pointed out to the establishment of a tripartite committee by the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq and Red Crescent and he said: “The Red Crescent only supervises on the process of searching including the work of operative and technical teams for searching, detecting the mass graves and exchanging information regarding searching the bodies of martyrs.”?
