More than Courage

In 1979, Sardasht city was a place where the anti-revolutionary militants had involved in fighting against Iranian fighters. One of the pilots who created great sacrifices at that time was Ali Akbar Shiroodi. He was a strong man who started his services for the Islamic Revolution after the victory of revolution.

One of the activities that Shiroodi did in Sardasht city took place when his munitions finished during a military operation. When his munitions were finished and he saw a vehicle of anti-revolutionary militants which was moving in the road he decided to attack it without munitions. Shiroodi attacked that vehicle with the skids of the helicopter and he caused the vehicle of anti-revolutionary militants to fall in a valley.

During this operation, the skids of the helicopter are damaged, but he was able to land the helicopter on four 220 mm barrels with great skills and I myself witness this great work of Mr. Shiroodi.

Mr. Shiroodi became so popular since that time and he became one of the great fighters of the Iran-Iraq war, in a way that when Imam Khomeini heard his martyrdom news, Imam Khomeini said: “Mr. Shiroodi was already blessed by the God.”?
