Supreme Leader:

Islamic Republic of Iran Stands to Enemies

Navideshahed: Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday underlined that Iran will stand firm against enemies and would not retreat even for an inch.

"The Islamic Republic will stand against oppressors and will not withdraw," the Leader said addressing thousands of local people in the western Iranian city of Gilan-Gharb on Saturday.

"The nation's resistance in maintaining national identity will help the country overcome the enemies," he added.

His remarks came after US officials on Tuesday alleged that they had charged two Iranians, one of them a dual US citizen, with preparing to carry out a bomb attack on the Saudi envoy under a plan "conceived, sponsored and directed from Iran."

The Leader did not explicitly respond to US allegations that Iranian government officials were behind a plot to kill the Saudi ambassador to Washington.

In relevant remarks on Thursday evening, the Supreme Leader lauded the Iranian nation's resistance against enemies' threats, and warned that any military aggression against Iran would be very costly for the enemies.

Ayatollah Khamenei, who was addressing Iranian military and law enforcement forces in the country's Western province of Kermanshah, pointed to the failures and losses sustained by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and his western supports during the 8 years of the imposed war on Iran in 1980s, and praised the resistance shown by the Iranian nation.

"The resistance and victory of the Iranian nation during the imposed war proved to the world that invasion of the Islamic Republic of Iran would incur heavy costs (on the enemies)," the Leader stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei further blasted the United States' wrong policies and performance, and stressed that these wrong policies have pushed Washington into "quagmires".

He called on the US authorities to give up their failed and aggressive policies, and stated, "The repeat of the foolish and ineffective methods used by the West's helpless and confused policymakers to spread Iranophobia will remain futile again and will face failure."
