Good Management in Preventing Backbiting
(By Pilot General Siroos Hayati)
When Martyr Yasini was the commander of the sixth fighter base of Bushehr I was serving at that base. I used to see him a lot in relation with my coordinating job. Once I was in his office and we were talking when his adjutant called to ask if he would permit him to send a member of personnel to his presence. The man was the supervisor of one section of the base. He was complaining about one of the colleagues.
As soon as he entered, he started talking behind his back. Col. Yasini listened attentively, then picked the phone and summoned the person in question who arrived in a few minutes. Then he addressed the two and said," I did not want to just listen to one of you and judge because it might have done the other one harm. Now I am in the presence of both of you and we can this way find a reasonable solution.
The tow, on that memorable day, discussed their problems and reached good conclusions.
Then with tear of delight in their eyes they embraced each other and asked for forgiveness.
Martyr Yasini with his godly and prudent act taught the others not to backbite or find fault with others and also encouraged such meetings on the base. From that time on no one ever backbit another in his presence.
