The Last Array

(By Hojjat- Ol-Islam Sayed Mohammad Reza Vahedi)

To tell the truth, he did deserve martyrdom. It wasn't fair for him to die in bed, after so many years of service as a soldier, so much indefatigability and bravery. His record of life long service, several victorious years of presence in operation fields, and finally his eight-year successful commanding of the Air Force had to be closed with a signature of blood. His certificate of love and self sacrifice toward Allah, the creator, had to be endorsed in blood to be filed along the immortal of history.
How blessed he was to be martyred on the anniversary of Imam Hossein's martyrdom, being reborn and rushing to his master's presence and offering his stabbed and mutilated body as a sign of veneration.
This is the end of those who sacrifice their lives in the threshold of the beloved.
He said, "In the sky, one finds a different view toward the universe. One in flight beautifully he uttered these words and how wonderfully put them into action. He who had sent his soul on ascension with the plane up going, when he realized that returning to the earth in a crash, would deprive him of charred body into a coffin and spread his soul wings for a flight in the infinity of love, then joining the immortal turned into a star to stay for ever in the sky of love.
I never forget that, when on an occasion I mentioned prospect of promotion to higher ranks, a peculiar smile, indicating his inattention to this worldly triviality, appeared oh his face saying, no my final array would be this Air Force Uniform.

At that moment I did not well grasp the hidden meaning in his words, but now I see that his Air Fore Uniform was his last array and even his shroud, just it wasn't blue any more it was a roes red. Bleu mixed with red. Some are truly recognized after demise, though you have long kept their company as an intimate friend. Their appearance is in harmony with the surrounding, but their inner self not satisfied with it, their hidden self, being a world of love and fairness.

They are not hypocrites; they do not claim nonexistence because of being absorbed in God's presence. Though they are mighty and living well is in their reach, they do not boast of purity. They don't chant slogans of mysticism, they do not present themselves as Malek-Ashtar or following the path of Salman. General Sattary was a man of this group. At first glance, you could not discern in this Air Force commander who has bid farewell to this world. He was benevolent to others, not for himself or his family, he had many means at his disposal but he didn't make use of them for his well-being, affluence etc.

In the years after Islamic Revolution, many people from different classes and various walks of life, broke the late Imam Khomeinie's heart, and annoyed the supreme leader. The long ways after revolution have witnessed many hypocrites who pretend something while their heart is moving in another direction. Mysticism and purity is just in their words, not in their deeds and are only nominal soldiers of the leader. They just bear the title, Basij, but not its true meaning. In purity cloth just recommend purity to others, their love for revolution is expressed with sullen face, because of an action and on hearing some praising words, think of themselves as heir to Revolution, keeping the people's fate in their hands, etc.
His face was always smiling and full of hope.

His soul was saturated with trust in God and encouraged by leader's presence. When his personnel looked at him, they would be charged with energy and would forget their personal problems in spite of the fact that he was most tired of all and was shouldering a huge burden of responsibility.

The air force commanders and staff never forget that when he took off his boots just for performing his ablutions and prayers and not on any other occasion. His feet were injured by long walking and he had to put some cotton between his toes so that he could continue his daily activities.
