Write, "Our Pilot Performed Miracle"

(By Col. Sayed Mohammad Hosseini)
The war had ended but you could still smell gunpowder in city lanes and melted parts of bombs and missiles were seen in every corner of our Islamic country.
One day general Sattary called me to his office. He had just come back from Pakistan full of new scientific and military experience and information.
He allowed me in and said, "Welcome sayed.
You have brought pleasantness". I said "May you be healthy, sir, welcome back". He said "Look at this book sayed". It was a small book on wich cover it was written in English "Pakistan in War".
Then talking about his trip to Pakistan, he said, "The commander of the Air Force of Pakistan presented this book to me with a special pride, which meant honor.
He told me, "Our Air Force has performed these operations during the seventeen days of war against India".
In the book that the General had shown me, there were the names of the heroes and the operations performed by Pakistani Air force in the war against India.
The General continued, "I thought if they could boast of their seventeen day war, why shouldn't we boast of our eight years of holy defense during which we performed heroic acts and carried out extraterritorial strategic operations empty handed.
As if he remembered the war days, while reviting his eyes on the martyr Babaee's portrait he said, "Sayed I want you to write what miracles our pilots performed". Write how we flew by the borders of Syria and bombarede the "3.h1" Iraqi base in three spots in the border of Jordan and that the enemy could do nothing.
Write how we paralyzed the enemy's armored forces through concentrated bombardment and recaptured the occupied land. And then tears in his eyes he said, "Sayed war has ended but these braveries have nowhere been mentioned. What will the judgment of history be? How are we going to answer the children of the martyrs asking what the aim of their fathers was and how they got martyred? What devotions and dedications they made?" "You and I are responsible. We should bring the culture of war and front into life." He ordered me to set up a research group and collect the total operations of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force.

Later these activities ended up in a six- volume collection called the Devotees in the Arena of Love. When general Sattary saw the rough copy, he happily praised it and ordered it to be published. The first volume of this collection was published under the title Pilot's Memories.
