Martyr Shirazi's Generous Behaviour toward an Iraqi Captive

According to Fars News Agency's sacrifice and martyrdom reporter, Tavana, commander brigadier general pilot Mohammad Ta’ati was an official of air force during the military operation ‘Betiol Moghadas’. After the Iran-Iraq war was appointed as the deputy of Air Force Intelligence.

In an exclusive interview with Fars News Agency, he expressed a memory regarding the captivity of an Iraqi pilot and the generous behavior of martyr Ali Sayad Shirazi with this captive as follows:

When martyr Sayad Shirazi became the commander of the Ground Force, I was in the west of Iran. He telephoned me and he asked me to go to southern battlefields. I also was dispatched to Ghale Morghi Tehran Headquarters for awhile and I was appointed as a unit commander. At this time the commander of Air Force demanded us to go to the Karbala Headquarters located near Darkhowin.

In this headquarters the procedure of launching the military operation ‘Beitol Moghadas’, detection of the war zone and enemy situation were reviewed and the Air Force used the highest level of forces in this operation with an extraordinary capacity. This operation was launched stage by stage; the first and second stage of the operation were reviewed and revised. During this operation an Iraqi Mig 23 crushed in our territories. When martyr Sayad Shirazi heard this news, he asked me to go to the incident place to get information about this event for the headquarters.

I went to the war zone with a Helicopter 206. The pilot of the aircraft had landed with parachute and the Iranian war veterans had surrounded the pilot from a distance of one or two kilometers and the Iraqi pilot had been frightened as well. I went near the Iraqi pilot and I said: are you armed? He said: No and he expressed his surrender by expressing the name of Imam Khomeini and Imam Reza (AS).

We took the Iraqi pilot to the headquarters by a helicopter; Mr. Sayad talked with him.

He would say to the Iraqi pilot: “Don’t fear, you are captured, you are not our enemy anymore, you are our guest.”?

It was the time of noon prayer; that Iraqi pilot did not know how he should pray and we taught him how to wash his hands and face in order to get prepared for prayer; That pilot was taken to the camp of prisoners of war and the intelligence officials investigated him; He also expressed anything that he knew regarding accomplishing his training courses and the current and future activities of Saddam Hussein.

This work was done by Mr. Afghar, one of the Iraqi Shiites who had come to Iran. The words of this Iraqi pilot were really effective in planning the next stage of the operation. The Iraqi Baathist pilots had accomplished their military trainings with the Communists and they were aware of the issues that were far beyond the issues that we had mentioned in our headquarters.

The familiarity of this Iraqi prisoner of war was the same as opening a window towards light that we were deprived of that in the past.
