Navideshahed Exlusive:

The Collusion of a Soldier and a Colonel to Escape Barracks

Navideshahed: Reza did not wish to stay in the garrison at first; on the day that martyr Aghareb Parast escaped from there; he also did not tolerate that situation anymore. In a way that he would say, Colonel Aghareb Parast has telephoned him from Tehran and had told him to get on the car and to escape from the garrison. Reza was also looking for this opportunity and he escaped so quickly…

Mohammad Cheraghi in an exclusive with Navideshahed declared: “Reza was a soldier in Ahvaz garrison in 1977 and he was an authority for the office of martyr Hassan Aghareb Parast. These two persons had close relations with each other in a way that Reza would call him as his uncle.”?

He added: “From that time, his conflicts against Shah’s regime got more severe. I can remember that during one of the prost days, Reza had gone to the Org square and he had captured a tank of Shah’s regime along with the assistance of his friends. This tank would bother and torture the people during the protests and after that it became a sentinel for the protestors and fighters who would fight against the regime. They went to the Radio Building and after getting involved in the conflict against SAVAK forces, they captured this building and Radio Building was fully controlled by the protestors.

The brother of martyr Cheraghi added: “After the revolution according to the demand of Imam Khomeini based on this issue that all the escaping soldiers should go back to the service, he returned to his military service garrison and he accomplished his military service and after a month he entered the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.”?

He mentioned: “When the Imposed War Era started, Reza went to Kurdistan province and he got familiar with some great commanders such as Haj Mohammad Ebrahim Hemmat, Reza Dastvareh, Abbas Karimi and Haj Ahmad Motevaseliyan and he became a member of their group (Since that time their group had become known as ‘The Children of Haj Ahmad’).

The people of Kurdistan province, specially Marivan city can remember his championships and today there is a clinic and a boulevard which have been named as Reza Cheraghi in this city. After that Reza went to the southern battlefields and after staying in the war for three consecutive years, he was martyred on Friday, April 15, 1983 during the military operation ‘Valfajr 1’.

The brother of martyr Cheraghi pointed out to this issue that his brother could be considered as a teacher of ethics according to his behavior and he emphasized: “The friendly relation of him with his family, specially with my father and my mother was really nice. He would behave all the persons so kindly and passionately and on the other hand he would pay much attentions to the spiritual and religious affairs; He would never leave his on time prayer at all and during his prayer he would deeply talk with God.”?

He also pointed out to this issue that this martyr in reaction to the bad behavior of others would react kindly and he notified: “Someday we had sat down in a meeting; and we were discussing about Imam Khomeini; one of the persons who was in the meeting expressed something that was not so good about Imam Khomeini. Reza with a good behavior attempted to guide that guy and he made him understand that he has said something wrong about Imam Khomeini; but that person would not give up expressing that claim. Reza wrote a sentence in a piece of paper and give to him without become angry and I can remember that the sentence was: “It is better that we talk about something that we don’t commit a sin, otherwise we will face with problems in the resurrection world and we should be responsible for what we say in front of God in that world.”? After that he left the meeting.

The brother of martyr Cheraghi at the end of his speeches outlined: “If I say that Reza was really unique in all the affairs and aspects, I have not exaggerated indeed. He was a great person and he was committed to the ethical and religious affairs and he would obey the guardianship. He was brave, kind and his behavior was so good. Although some of the governmental properties had been given to him, but he would never use them for personal purposes. For example during my wedding ceremony, Reza was supposed to bring the concluder of the engagement, although the car of Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps had been parked in front of our house, he did not use that and he had taken the car of someone else and against the criticism of others he responded as follows: “This car is not here for my personal affairs at all.”?
