Secretary of Iran

Navideshahed: A top Iranian official says the United States is the main loser of the current developments and the wave of Islamic Awakening in the Middle East and North Africa.

Based on Navideshahed report, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili said on Friday that Islamic Awakening in the Arab world has driven the US to “desperation and a dead end.”?

“It has been caught in a quagmire for years of support for the Zionist regime [of Israel] and regional dictatorial regimes like [those of] Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak and cannot set itself free through chicanery and fallacy,”? Jalili said.

“It is now clear that the strategic US policies of the past seven decades have been in contradiction with the causes and interests of the people of the [Middle East] region.”?

The comments come one day after US President Barack Obama made a televised speech in which he assured Washington's regional allies that the United States would keep its “commitment to friends and partners.”?

Jalili said Obama's blatant support for Israel demonstrates the racist nature of US policies.

“Desperation, contradiction and deceit are visible in Obama's speech and Obama's open support for a Jewish regime revealed the racist nature of American politics,”? he added.

The Iranian official went on to remind the Obama administration that Palestinians consider the Israeli-occupied territories as their homeland.

“This is the demand of the people of the region and they do not agree to less,”? he concluded.
